Sebastian Younger being interviewed by Bob Herbert, NY Times columnist, before a live audience. Younger and his friend and photographer, Tim Heatherington spent most of a deployment with an army squadron in an obscure valley in Afghanistan. They produced a documentary movie, Restrepo. He's recently produced a book, War. The interview is riveting. At one point, he describes a firefight as "conversation". For some reason I've yet to discover, I broke into tears with that.

A few years ago, Pat and I were driving down Highway 1, and seeing Fish Ranch ahead of us. I commented to Pat that "Someday, I'd like to live with this view." Now we do. Fish Ranch is on the hillside just to the left, outside this picture.
